Our Fantastic Trip

to Luray Caverns

Riding in Style

The bus ride to Luray Caverns was terrific.  On the way we watched movies and took naps. We also got to sit back and relax on the bus. There were lots of things we saw on the bus ride, like the Hollywood sign but it said Endless Caverns. Lots of the students read books while the movie was playing.  It was amazingly cool to ride on the tour bus.

The Caverns

Luray Caverns was discovered 130 years ago. They were discovered by Sam Buracker. There are many spectacular formations, and sights. We saw this formation called Pluto’s Ghost it is over 500 ft tall and 70 to 90 feet deep. There was a lake called Dream Lake it looks really shallow but it is actually 18 to 20 inches deep. One of the highlights of the tour was the fried eggs people used to rub for good luck. That’s what made it shiny, but today you can’t rub them because we have salt on our hands and that would affect the growth. Another highlight was when she turned off the

lights, it was really cool! We hope to go back one day.

The Fabulous Garden Maze

At the caverns when we got out and relaxed a little bit. We ate lunch and went in the gift shop.  We went to the Luray caverns famous Garden Maze. There were flowers that were pretty. There were 4 goals you had to find and there was a different stamp to put on the paper at each goal. There were big bushes and big metal things so you could not go through the bushes. There was a cave you had to go through and a tower that you had to go on to get to the end of the maze.  There was a pretty fountain that you could throw money in and make a wish. The Luray Caverns Garden Maze was amazing!
